GADSDEN COUNTY, Fla- –The Gadsden County Tourist Development Council (TDC), in partnership with the Black History Committee of Gadsden County, will host the countyโ€™s Second Annual Treasure Hunt on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2025. This yearโ€™s event, themed Echoes of Faith โ€“ Discovering History, Preserving Legacy, Celebrating Community, will begin with registration at 9 a.m. at the historic Gadsden County Courthouse in Quincy. The Treasure Hunt will officially start at 10 a.m.

โ€œThis treasure hunt is more than just a fun adventureโ€”itโ€™s a way to honor our past, celebrate our shared history, and strengthen our community bonds,โ€ Carolyn Ford, chair of the Gadsden County Tourist Development Council Board, said. โ€œEvery clue uncovers a story, and every treasure honors our past. We are proud to bring this event back for its second year and look forward to an even greater turnout.โ€

The TDC and its marketing agency, MediumFour, recently earned statewide recognition at the 2025 Florida Governorโ€™s Conference on Tourism, winning an award for excellence in tourism marketing and economic impact. The award highlighted the success of last yearโ€™s inaugural Treasure Hunt, which drew strong participation and widespread attention.

Bishop Earl Green, chairman of the Black History Committee of Gadsden County, emphasized the eventโ€™s importance in preserving the countyโ€™s cultural legacy.

โ€œOur churches, landmarks and oral histories are treasures in themselves,โ€ Green said. โ€œThe Treasure Hunt allows us to pass these stories on to the next generation in a way that is engaging, meaningful and unifying. Preserving our history ensures that the sacrifices and triumphs of those before us are never forgotten.โ€

The rewards are as enticing as the adventure itself. Up to $5,000 in prizes will be shared by the treasure hunt winners. Registration is $25 for adults and $15 for youth ages 17 and under.
