GADSDEN COUNTY, Fla- –The Gadsden County Tourist Development Council (TDC), in partnership with the Black History Committee of Gadsden County, will host the county’s Second Annual Treasure Hunt on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2025. This year’s event, themed Echoes of Faith – Discovering History, Preserving Legacy, Celebrating Community, will begin with registration at 9 a.m. at the historic Gadsden County Courthouse in Quincy. The Treasure Hunt will officially start at 10 a.m.

“This treasure hunt is more than just a fun adventure—it’s a way to honor our past, celebrate our shared history, and strengthen our community bonds,” Carolyn Ford, chair of the Gadsden County Tourist Development Council Board, said. “Every clue uncovers a story, and every treasure honors our past. We are proud to bring this event back for its second year and look forward to an even greater turnout.”

The TDC and its marketing agency, MediumFour, recently earned statewide recognition at the 2025 Florida Governor’s Conference on Tourism, winning an award for excellence in tourism marketing and economic impact. The award highlighted the success of last year’s inaugural Treasure Hunt, which drew strong participation and widespread attention.

Bishop Earl Green, chairman of the Black History Committee of Gadsden County, emphasized the event’s importance in preserving the county’s cultural legacy.

“Our churches, landmarks and oral histories are treasures in themselves,” Green said. “The Treasure Hunt allows us to pass these stories on to the next generation in a way that is engaging, meaningful and unifying. Preserving our history ensures that the sacrifices and triumphs of those before us are never forgotten.”

The rewards are as enticing as the adventure itself. Up to $5,000 in prizes will be shared by the treasure hunt winners. Registration is $25 for adults and $15 for youth ages 17 and under.
