LOCATION INFORMATION

The J.E.A. Davidson-C.W. Thomas House is one of Quincy’s most elegant late-Victorian and Edwardian-era homes, featuring a distinctive semi-circular porch supported by six Corinthian columns added in 1890 — an architectural statement of considerable sophistication and refinement. Originally built by J.E.A. Davidson, who served as a state senator for Gadsden County in 1868, the house reflects the political and social prominence of its first owner.

The house was purchased in 1926 by Charles W. Thomas, whose son Charles operated a large lumber mill, grew shade tobacco, and raised livestock on extensive land holdings. Thomas Memorial Baptist Church in Quincy stands as Thomas’s gift to the Quincy congregation — a lasting legacy of community generosity that reflects the philanthropic spirit of the county’s most successful citizens.

The semi-circular six-column porch remains one of the most distinctive and photographed architectural features in Quincy’s Historic District, making the J.E.A. Davidson-C.W. Thomas House an essential stop for visitors exploring the remarkable collection of historic architecture that has made Quincy one of Florida’s most celebrated small-city historic districts.
